With advances in robotic technology taking place every day, those interested in the profession of robotics engineering may find themselves a prosperous career, given they find quality training. Here we explore some of the best schools that offer programs in robotics engineering.
The three schools discussed here – University of Pennsylvania – Philadelphia, Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Massachusetts, and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh – were all ranked on the U.S. News World Report list of top national universities. While top robotics engineering programs are typically found at the graduate level, all three of these schools have both undergraduate and graduate robotic options.
University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia
University of Pennsylvania tied for 8th place among all national universities, according to U.S. News World Report rankings for 2017. Through the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, students can pursue a unique master’s degree in robotics (ROBO). The program is administered through the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Laboratory. Students study artificial intelligence, kinematics, design, and prototyping in one of the most advanced robotics labs in the world. In addition to a master’s program, GRASP offers undergraduate courses in robotics.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Massachusetts
Worcester Polytechnic is the first university in the nation to offer bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in robotics engineering. Students can also enroll in a 5-year combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Robotics Engineering program. This school tied for 60th place in U.S. News World Report’s 2017 list of top national universities.
